I guess a quick snap shot about John Hadfield will assist you to understand our philosophy and the Control Zone way of looking at consulting.
Joining the work force in 1968, I spent my traditional training years working in various sign manufacturing companies until finishing my first skills training, completing an apprenticeship. Looking for new challenges I embarked on my own sole trader business in March 1972. Growing the business rapidly for many years, answering all the usual the challenges….. Expediential growth, financial growth issues, work place training and planning difficulties!!!
More training through various training institutions and having the benefit of being mentored by leading industry professionals allowed me the priviledge and knowledge accrual I yearned for. Professional memberships to SAA, SGIA, ME&SA, NSCA to name a few, as a board member on some of these organisations I gained experiences and business insights shared by few. After a few years as National Chairman of the Sign Association of Australia I looked back to my core business and with my life partner, we decided our future needed to be crystal clear!
We had experiences in running a medium sized manufacturing business employing around 25 staff for nearly 30 years, being actively involved in a another Sydney and Melbourne based supply based business. Additional committments to a CD and publishing business continued our experiences. But, big but what is this all about? We asked……
So, since 1993 we set about challenging ourselves to build, direct and manage a focused profit centre working with the ideals we set.
Quality Assurance to ISO 9002 followed. Integration of a specific custom built software business program to manage the production processes.
We kept asking …..Why?
Our core business “ Hadfield Sign Co “ hadfieldsignco.com.au was sold to another leading sign manufacturer in Sydney, and I am happy to say HSC is still travelling along just fine. While reviewing our methods we developed many more innovative concepts leading to accreditation to the Australian Technology Showcase. In 2000 we sold Sign One to an International company, and as a part of the contract I took the role of International Manager of Sign Products. Travelling the world for around two years gaining knowledge and skills while marketing and training sales staff and users of the product range.
Wow what a trip!
