What is a business mentors’ role?

A mentor is someone who serves as a counsellor or guide. The mentor aims to work with the people or a person in the company to raise the skill sets, knowledge and abilities of those individuals and have a positive impact on the situation aimed to be improved.

Mentoring is a process for the informal or formal training or education of knowledge and the support perceived by the mentor to the mentee as required to assist in the participants work, career, skill set or professional development.

The work can have included but not limited to informal communication, phone calls, face-to-face discussions and nowadays Zoom meetings. The time-period can and will vary dependant on the requirements of the given task.

Typically, the roles are between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less i.e the mentee

Why use a mentor?
